Hill House Home is embarking on its Houston debut. According to a Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation permit, the new lifestyle brand, best known for its comfort-first Nap dresses, is expected to open in Rice Village at 2414 University Blvd, Suite 136.
The permit further details that construction is planned for mid-August and is slated to wrap up towards the end of September this year. If all goes well with permitting and the estimated $89,000 construction project, Houston’s first Hill House Home store should open by this fall.
“The conversion of a Lily Rain retail store into a Hill House Home clothing store,” the permit reads.
“Work shall include the demolition of some interior walls/ceiling components, construction of new walls/ceilings, and new finishes/equipment.”
The new Hill House Home will take over the 2,146 square-foot space that clothing brand Lily Rain recently occupied. But, don’t fret Houson region and visitors, Lily Rain fans, the fashion boutique has moved its original long-time Rice Village flagship store down the street to 2515 University Blvd. The new store sits next to Hemline and across University Boulevard from Sixty Vines. No word as to why the brand moved, but it’s making way for the new Hill House Home store to open.
What Now Houston reached out to Hill House Home’s Senior Director of Growth, Allie Gray, and Director of Retail Operations, Ally Frey, to find out more details about the exciting Houston debut. Unfortunately, we did not hear back from either Frey or Gray by the time of this publication.
“With a design-centric approach, Hill House offers impeccable quality and timeless, delicate styles through quality products designed to enhance and celebrate life,” the Hill House Home website reads.
“An aesthetic point-of-view and customer-led approach bring a fresh, accessible perspective to these time-honored categories.”
Hill House Home is a direct-to-consumer lifestyle and apparel brand founded in 2016 by Nell Diamond. The brand initially focused on luxury bedding and home goods before achieving massive viral success with the 2019 introduction of its signature smocked “Nap Dress”.
“The name is a bit of a misnomer,” the Hill House Home website reads.
“The Nap Dress® is our signature garment; soft, comfortable, and pretty enough to wear all day and night. ‘I wanted to design something that allowed me to feel like myself during a 3:00 am feeding, when I’m so bone-tired and have four thousand emails and I’m thinking about taxes and my laundry and my to-do list and the Nap Dress® came to be as a solution to a problem inherent in my own life.'”
Born and raised in London, Nell lives in New York City with her husband and three children.
“Nell Diamond founded Hill House Home with a dream to make happy things for happy places,” the website further shares.
“As the Founder and CEO, Nell’s unique design aesthetic and customer-centric approach has helped build a fiercely loyal and engaged Hill House Home community.”
There are now eight permanent Hill House Home retail locations, with one in Texas serving the Dallas community and its visitors. But the brand is continuing to expand its footprint across the country.
