Marshalls, the “top brands for less” retail store, is set to open in Merchant Park. According to a recently filed permit, the new Marshalls is expected to open at 919 N Shepherd Dr. Construction plans have already been established.
The permit details that construction on the new Marshalls set to open in Merchant Park is planned to commence at the end of May and wrap up by the end of October. If all goes well with construction and permitting, Marshalls at Merchant Park should open by this fall or early winter.
What Now Houston reached out to TJX- Marshalls Houston District Manager, Art Prusmack, to try to find out more details about the upcoming Marshalls Merchant Park opening, but did not hear back by the time of this publication.
Marshalls was founded by Alfred Marshall in Beverly, Massachusetts, in 1956. Marshall partnered with Bernard Goldston and Norman Barren in launching an off-price retail model that delivered home goods, footwear, and branded apparel at lower prices than department stores. In 1995, Marshalls was acquired by TJX Companies and paired with T.J. Maxx for a mass expansion.
There are now more than 1,200 Marshalls stores, with more than 1,100 in the US and a hundred in Canada. As part of the TJX Companies brand, Marshalls shares a parent company with TJ Maxx and HomeGoods, which together constitute over 3,000 stores in the U.S. and Canada.
The new Marshalls should be a welcome addition to the community. In Texas, there are a little more than a hundred Marshall clothing store locations, with fewer than 20 in Houston.
Marshalls is anticipated to open in Merchant Park at 919 N Shepherd Dr by this winter.
