Trader Joe’s is embarking on a huge opening in Spring. According to a recently filed permit, the new Trader Joe’s to come to the Spring area is expected to open in the Spring Town Center III at 21364 Kuykendahl Road.
The permit details that construction on the new Trader Joe’s is slated to start next month and wrap up at the end of January 2027. If all goes with the 12,506 square foot new build out and permitting, the Spring Trader Joe’s should be open by early 2027. The $2 million construction project consists of a new shell building and site work.
What Now Houston reached out to the Director of Operations at Trader Joe’s, Bob Denio, to find out more details about the exciting new addition to Spring Town Center III, but did not hear back by the time of this publication.
Trader Joe’s was founded in 1967 by Joe Coulombe in Pasadena, California. The grocery outlet brand evolved from a local convenience store chain dubbed Pronto Market into a beloved national specialty grocer known for its quirky nautical theme, private-label products, and affordable, high-quality food. It was acquired by the Albrecht family in 1979 but continues to operate independently.
There are now more than 600 Trader Joe’s locations across the United States. The specialty grocery chain operates in 42 states and the District of Columbia, with California holding the highest concentration of stores. Texas has a little more than 20 locations, with fewer than ten in the Greater Houston region.
Trader Joe’s is anticipated to open its next Greater Houston area store in Spring at the Spring Town Center III at 21364 Kuykendahl Road by early 2027.
