Home to Edgewood Bakery, a Jacksonville fixture since its original opening in 1947 until it closed in 2016, the space at 1012 Edgewood Ave S in Murray Hill has sat unused for years, as attempts to give a new life ultimately petered out.
Later this year, however, the site will be in operation again as the home of a Murray Hill Branch of Community First Credit Union. And, in a kind of homage to the long-loved Edgewood Bakery, Community First Credit Union is partnering with another local baker to open along with the branch.
When the new Community First Bank Branch opens, it will be joined by Arble Baking Company, says coverage by Jax Today.
Founded in 1975 by Willis and Veronica Anderson, Arble Baking Company is a long-time family-run home bakery that has expanded to include a brick-and-mortar storefront at 6765 Dunn Ave, Suite 325 in Jacksonville. Arble Baking Co.’s second location will open in the Community First Credit Union Branch’s social area out front.
“The actual full kitchen will be in a permanent food feature,” Alonza Anderson, one of the owners of Arble Baking Co., said in the Jax Today coverage. “It kind of looks like a food truck, but it has hard plumbing and A/C, and a kitchen hood, grills and fryers — a mini-kitchen on site.”
Arble’s baked-goods offerings include cookie varieties like the classic Chocolate Chip, Caramel Butter Pecan, and Brown Butter Toffee; Mini Cupcakes in flavors like Red Velvet and Carrot Cake; cake by the slice; and Sweet Potato Pie.
