Downtown Gainesville is getting a new family-run food concept, with Claudie’s planning a location at 5 SE 2nd Avenue.
City permits indicate plans for the restaurant at the downtown address, while Claudie’s website and online presence offer a look at the business ahead of its arrival.
Owned by Claude Sagne, Claudie’s is a family business with French roots. The concept combines French and American food, with an emphasis on fresh, homemade dishes.
The menu and bakery offerings include French favorites such as croissants, almond croissants, quiches, beignets and artisan sourdough bread, alongside savory dishes and other house-made specialties.
The business also has a catering operation, serving events ranging from smaller gatherings and parties to weddings and other celebrations.
Claudie’s brings Sagne’s background in French cooking to Gainesville. According to the business, its approach centers on fresh ingredients and food prepared in-house, with French influence woven into the menu alongside American favorites.
The new location will give Claudie’s a permanent brick-and-mortar home in downtown Gainesville. The space has previously been used for food and beverage businesses, making it an existing restaurant setting for the new concept. Beyond the restaurant, Claudie’s catering services will continue to offer food for private events and celebrations, giving the family business another way to serve the local community.
An opening date may be later this month, and additional details about the menu are expected as the project moves forward. For now, Claudie’s is preparing to bring its French roots, American favorites and homemade approach to downtown Gainesville.
