The Southern Nevada Health District undertakes timely, strict inspections across eateries in Las Vegas. It does so to ensure that every food establishment follows food safety regulations. One Las Vegas-based eatery failed to pass one of the inspections conducted on May 9.

Antojitos Mexicanos is known for its tempting Mexican dishes. Menu highlights at the establishment include tacos and quesadillas. Other food offerings include tortas, pozole, sopes, and pambazos.
However, during a routine inspection by the Southern Nevada Health District, the Mexican food place was found to have unsatisfactory results. Based on the nature of food safety violations, the SNHD gave 42 demerit points to Antojitos Mexicanos.
Inspection Findings at Antojitos Mexicanos
Food inspectors of the SNHD found multiple health violations on the premises of Antojitos Mexicanos. During the inspection, SNHD officials noted multiple violations, notably the lack of potable and hot water.
The inspectors then shed light on the many sanitation issues at Antojitos Mexicanos. Pest infestation was particularly emphasized in their findings. Apart from it, there was a lack of toilets and handwashing facilities at the Las Vegas-based food establishment.
Antojitos Mexicanos was found to be in non-compliance with the Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point Plan and Time as a Public Health Control. It also did not have proper labels on commercially manufactured food. Plus, the Las Vegas-based Mexican eatery did not maintain TCS temperatures.
Food inspectors then noted that the equipment at Antojitos Mexicanos was not in good repair. Cross-contamination of food was also found at the Las Vegas-based food facility. Sanitation was required at its food contact surfaces as well.
The person in charge was missing during the inspection at Antojitos Mexicanos. Additionally, the SNHD officials asked the representatives to keep required signs for customers inside the premises of the food establishment.
Based on the violations highlighted by the food inspectors of SNHD, Antojitos Mexicanos will have to take corrective action. A date for re-inspection is yet to be announced.
