Founded in Dallas, Texas in 2010 by Randy Dewitt, who also founded sister restaurant Twin Peaks, Ojos Locos Sports Cantina currently has 12 locations in Texas and other southwestern states. It is now preparing to open its first Nevada location, which will be its largest, in North Las Vegas. Las Vegas casino operator Fifth Street Gaming is partnering with the brand in a redevelopment and rebranding of Lucky Club Hotel & Casino that will include Ojos Locos Sports Cantina’s largest restaurant to date.
“We are gratified to join together on this endeavor with Ojos Locos, a vibrant and growing brand which has, over the last 12 years, established itself as a national leader in providing authentic hospitality experiences to the Latino community,” Fifth Street Gaming CEO Seth Schorr said in a recent press release. “Their expertise, combined with our 15-year record of producing successful events designed for the Latino audience in Southern Nevada, makes them the ideal partner in this first-ever Latino-focused integrated gaming, dining, and entertainment venture.”
The chain of cantinas features a menu with a blend of Mexican and Southwestern American fare, specializing in tacos. It is famous for its “balones”: tall pitchers that bearing 100 fluid ounces of ice-cold beer.
“We are excited and honored to collaborate with Fifth Street Gaming on this project, allowing us to bring the Ojos experience to Nevada,” Laura Caudillo, vice president of marketing for Ojos Locos, was quoted as saying in coverage on News3lv.com. “We look forward to adding to the Latino community experience with our excellent service, delicious food and fun atmosphere.”
10,000 sq. ft. of casino gaming space are expected for the finished property, located north of the intersection between E Cheyenne Ave and Civic Center Dr. Renovations on the property are expected to be completed by the end of the year.
