Restaurateur and James Beard Award-winning chef Michael Mina is set to open another restaurant at Mandalay Bay Resort & Casino. Opening this winter, Orla will “draw on Mediterranean, Middle Eastern, North African, Western Asian, and European cooking traditions, with a nod to the chef’s Egyptian heritage,” says coverage by the Las Vegas Review-Journal. It will also feature an emphasis on seafood.

“I am honored to introduce Orla to the vibrant Las Vegas dining scene,” says Mina in the RJ coverage. “We look forward to sharing our culinary passion and creating special moments for all who visit.”

Mina is also behind StripSteak, which reopened last winter after a remodel with a fully revamped menu.

Mandalay Bay President and COO Chuck Bowling describes the move as another part of a “new wave” at Mandalay Bay. The resort has undergone many changes in recent months, with the opening of Retro by Voltaggio, which replaced Aureole earlier this year; the launch of sports bar Flanker Kitchen this summer; and the closing of Fleur to make way for Orla.
