Metro Pizza, the landmark Las Vegas pizzeria, is embarking on an opening. According to brand partner Joe Verhoest, a Metro Pizza eatery is planned to open at The Bend at 8720 West Sunset Road, Suite D150, this June.
Metro Pizza joins a host of retail and dining options at the new shopping center. The Bend, located on Sunset Road between Durango Boulevard and Riley Boulevard, aims to be one of the largest entertainment, shopping, and dining destinations in the southwest region. Metro Pizza will open amongst Marafuku Ramen, Mothership Coffee, The Great Greek Mediterranean Grill, and more.
What Now Las Vegas briefly spoke with Verhoest, who shared the news about the opening, but was unable to share further details by the time of this publication.
Metro Pizza was founded by cousins John Arena and Sam Facchini in 1980. The two have been helping grow the business, working at open locations ever since. The brand has roots dating back to a family business in New York in the ’20s.
Known for popularizing authentic pizza in Las Vegas, Arena and Facchini expanded to multiple locations, with recognized expertise from Arena, a third-generation pizza maker and World Pizza Champion. But that’s not the only recognition the two have accrued. Metro Pizza was named National Pizza Operators of the Year in ’86 and Nevada Restaurateurs of the Year in 1999.
“At Metro Pizza, we honor the great traditions of America’s landmark Pizzerias,” the Metro Pizza website reads.
“Our dough is slow fermented to coax maximum flavor from the finest wheat, hand-stretched and cooked on the stone of our hearth ovens. Our sauces are made from only the finest vine-ripened tomatoes and topped with select cheeses, choice meats, and the freshest vegetables, herbs, and spices available.”
There are four main Metro Pizza locations. One was opened in Ellis Island Casino. A long-standing location near Tropicana and Maryland Parkway closed late last year after 37 years of business.
But the brand continues to grow!
Now, embarking on opening a location in the Southwest Valley, customers can expect the same beloved taste and feel.
Guests can enjoy classic pizza offerings like the cheese pizza or go with something on the more unique side, like The Gotham pizza, which comes with pepperoni, mushrooms, sausage, green peppers, ground beef, and onions.
“Each of our pizzas is a hand-crafted labor of love, backed by three generations of experience,” the Metro Pizza website reads.
Besides pizzas, Metro Pizza offers a host of appetizers, salads, calzones, and desserts. The brand also offers pizzas to bake at home and pizza cooking classes.
Metro Pizza is anticipated to open in The Bend shopping center at 8720 West Sunset Road, Suite D150, this summer.
