Smith’s Food & Drug is working on building a $35.9 million store in North Las Vegas. According to a press release from the supermarket chain and grocery giant The Kroger Co., which owns Smith’s, the new North Las Vegas supermarket is planned to open at 900 W. Tule Springs Parkway.
The press release goes on to detail that the 122,000-square-foot store will sit just north of the 215 Beltway at Revere Street. The store is scheduled to be completed by 2027. This will make the 48th Smith’s opening in Nevada.
What Now Las Vegas reached out to Smith’s President Kenny Kimball to find out more details about the upcoming North Las Vegas opening.
“North Las Vegas is growing, and we are excited to open a new Smith’s store in the area,” Kimball said in the release.
“Smith’s will provide fresh food at an affordable price and be a partner the community can count on.”
Smith’s Food and Drug began in 1911 when Lorenzo Smith opened a small dry goods store in Brigham City, Utah. Expanded by his son Dee Smith, the regional chain introduced self-service shopping, added in-store pharmacies in the late 1980s, and was acquired by The Kroger Co. in 1999.
The Kroger Co. now operates 145 Smith’s Food and Drug grocery stores across seven states in the western United States, with 24 of its locations in Las Vegas.
“Our teams work year-round to bring fresh, quality food to every table at prices families can count on,” the Kroger Co. website reads.
The regional supermarket chain is known for offering full-service grocery shopping, pharmacy services, and general household merchandise under one roof.
Smith’s Food & Drug is anticipated to open in North Las Vegas at 900 W. Tule Springs Parkway sometime next year.
