EAH Housing has plans for a five-story, 48-unit affordable housing project in West Hollywood, according to plans on file with the city planning commission’s design review subcommittee.

Designed by Santa Monica-based project architect DE Architects, the proposed development would take shape at 1201 – 1207 North Detroit Street, a two-parcel, vacant lot at the northwestern corner of the intersection of Detroit Street and Lexington Avenue. Plans call for 47 studio apartments ranging in size from 405 to 448 square feet and targeting lower income and permanent supportive housing needs, along with one manager’s unit.

Designs entail an additional story through California Assembly Bill No. 1763 above the four allowed otherwise, also calling for a corner garden space at the southeast portion of the development site. The ground level of the development would contain administrative, maintenance, and social service spaces in addition to an approximately 1,000-square-foot community room.

The project plans went before the design review subcommittee last month and will go before the West Hollywood Planning Commission on a date to be determined.

The approximately 54-foot-tall, 31,826-square-foot project would provide 21 parking spaces in an underground parking garage, along with space for 36 bicycles.

The two-parcel project site was acquired by an affiliate of EAH Housing last year for about $4.85 million, according to Los Angeles County property records.
