Bread Head, a celebrated sandwich shop in Santa Monica that is known for its artisanal approach to classic sandwiches, is expanding with new locations in Manhattan Beach and Westwood.

Founded by chefs Alex Williams and Jordan Snyder, Bread Head began as a pop-up venture before opening its flagship location at 1518 Montana Avenue in June 2024. Now the team is getting ready to open two new locations this year, starting with Manhattan Beach, which is slated to open in May 2025. Bread Head will move into the former home of Tacoilicious at 1129 Manhattan Ave. After this, Bread Head will open a third location in Westwood, moving into the former Honey Krush space at 1136 Westwood Blvd. It’s unclear when the Westwood site is expected to open, but it will likely be around Summer 2025.

Chefs Williams and Snyder met while earning a Michelin star at Trois Mec and bonded over a shared passion for crafting simple yet refined sandwiches. They developed a custom focaccia and sourced high-quality ingredients to build sandwiches focused on flavor, texture, and aroma. Over several years, they honed their menu through pop-ups and catering, gaining acclaim and media recognition despite limited resources. In 2023, they partnered with Greg Willsey and Michael Pasternak to form Bread Head Restaurant Group.

When these two new locations open, customers can expect the same core menu that made Bread Head a hit in Santa Monica. The shop, founded by chefs Alex Williams and Jordan Snyder, is known for its house-made focaccia and high-quality ingredients. Signature sandwiches, like the Combo Grinder, Calabrian Turkey, and vegetarian Mozzarella, will be available, along with sides like pimento cheese nachos and seasonal salads. Both upcoming locations aim to deliver the same simple, refined sandwich experience.

This expansion marks an early step for the Bread Head Restaurant Group’s broader ambitions. “Let’s grow this into the next sandwich chain,” Williams told Eater in June 2024. “We’d love to see Bread Heads across the states.”
