A new Japanese market is on the way to North Hollywood. Owner Guy Bachar and his team are aiming to open Yokocho in September at 11016-20 Magnolia Blvd.

A yokocho refers to the narrow streets in Japan often lined with izakayas and eateries. The name is a nod to Bachar’s vision for the 5,000-square-foot space: to replicate the feeling of walking into an authentic Japanese market in Tokyo.

The menu is still in the works, but customers can expect a fully Japanese menu, featuring items such as ramen, sushi and specialty items from Japan.

“It’s going to be something unique to Los Angeles and an opportunity to get a taste of authentic Japanese cuisine with a Japanese feel,” Bachar said.
