Kumquat Coffee — a fan-favorite in LA’s coffee scene — is opening a third outpost at 4703 York Boulevard, a newly renovated auto body shop conversion.

Presently, the Highland Park-born cafe has a recently-opened DTLA location and a Cypress Park spin-off concept called Loquat Coffee, all of which are helmed by co-founders AJ Kim and Scott Sohn. It’s unclear if the team has plans for continued expansion, but it seems likely given the brand’s growing popularity.

Kim tells Eater that the fourth location is designed to handle overflow, a good yet consistent issue Kumquat has faced since its 2018 opening.

“The first location is getting pounded with long lines, especially on weekends,” says Kim. “We want to repay customers with more drink options and another location.”

Kumquat offers the world’s top-tier roasters while Loquat focuses on its own brew. Both projects, however, have a similar goal in mind: to pursue higher standards and bring the next level of coffee experience to Los Angeles.
