A Texas institution is getting ready to bring food, gas, and incredibly clean bathrooms to Memphis. Buc-ee’s has cultivated an ardent fan-base, one it is hoping to parlay to the Gallaway market in 2027, reports Daily Memphian.

The beloved concept is set to occupy a sprawling 74,000 square foot storefront at 22860 TN-196 in Fayette County. The location has experienced some delays; despite ground being broken on Buc-ee’s in 2024, the convenience store, eatery, and gas station is now projecting a 2027 opening.

Gallaway will be able to claim one of the larger Buc-ee’s on the market; the storefront will have 71 bathrooms and 120 fueling stations.

Buc-ee’s is not a total stranger to Tennessee; the chain currently has two locations open and operational in the state, one in Sevierville and another in Crossville. Buc-ee’s co-founder and co-owner Arch “Beaver” Aplin III previously spoke to Commercial Appeal about bringing the concept to the neighborhood, saying: “We have another store on Interstate 40 currently in eastern Tennessee (Sevierville), so we wanted to have another store on the same interstate more for the Western Tennessee. We looked at a lot of areas, and this is just an ideal location. The community, the (Fayette) County and the City of Gallaway were all very business-friendly.”

Founded in 1982, Buc-ee’s has become legendary for having the cleanest bathrooms in the country. The concept also offers fresh hot food, including breakfast, barbecue sandwiches, a jerky bar, and homemade fudge.
