The 230-room Crowne Plaza Memphis Downtown Hotel at 300 N. Second St. sold to new owners earlier this year, the Daily Memphian reported, and with new ownership comes a new restaurant.

The current restaurant is called Notes & Provisions Restaurant and Bar and offers modern Southern cuisine in a casual atmosphere and dishes like Memphis-style BBQ and shrimp and grits.

According to a certificate of occupancy application filed with the city of Memphis, the new owners and brothers Nirav and Jay Patel, are looking for a name change and a beer permit.

Jay Patel told What Now Memphis that the new restaurant concept is in the early stages. The building still has to go through the renovation process, which could take four to six months, and they are waiting on the design team for their ideas.

The Daily Memphian reported that the Patels expect to invest $9 million over three years to renovate the property, which include upgrades to guest rooms and banquet spaces.
