The best dishes take time to marinate. A beloved Memphis area taco concept is proving just how true this is, showing signs of forward momentum after a period of intense anticipation. Recent filings show Tacos-n-Ganas is getting closer to another new area location, news sure to inspire excitement in the local community.

Tacos-n-Ganas has been showing bureaucratic activity for an upcoming 3686 Riverdale Road storefront. The Memphis and Shelby County Division of Planning and Development issued the concept a commercial mechanical permit on August 17 of this year, the culmination of applications that have been active since June.

While this particular application may not immediately seem incredibly exciting to future customers, it is representative of Taco-n-Ganas getting down to the nitty gritty of opening a restaurant. The forms describes the work intended as “Install fire suppression system in kitchen hood”, “Install roof relief ventilator – Install gas patio heaters with additional gas piping as needed – Seismic drawings – Install commercial kitchen hood”, and “Install walk-in cooler and refrigeration, install 3 grills gas and one vent a hood.” These details may not immediately set mouths to watering but they do show that Tacos-n-Ganas is ironing out the details necessary to open its doors.

Tacos-n-Ganas has steadily become a staple in the Memphis area, thanks to its fundamental ethos: “Taconganas means hunger. Hustle. Heart. And that’s exactly what we put into every taco — and into this city that’s helped us grow.”
