A popular Memphis-area chain is kicking the new year off by spreading its beloved cuisine to a brand new market. Tops Bar-B-Q & Burgers will be opening its 19th location, this one in Jonesboro, in mid-January.

Construction is wrapping up on the 411 E. Johnson Avenue restaurant. A press release provided to What Now Memphis states that Tops is targeting a January 15-17 grand opening celebration.

Tops CEO Randy Hough explains that the new Jonesboro storefront is answering local demand for the chain’s delicious signature pork shoulder sandwiches and burgers, saying: “We’ve heard from Tops fans in and around Jonesboro for years asking us to bring Tops to their city, and we’re excited to finally make that happen. Jonesboro’s strong sense of community and the pride that comes with being home to Arkansas State University make it a great fit for Tops. As we get ready to open, we’re excited to bring our A-game, support the local community, and serve great food at a great value — Go Red Wolves.”

Tops was founded in 1952, with a focus on smoked, Memphis-style barbecue. The chain is a favorite across the mid-south, thanks to a menu featuring burgers, barbecue, nachos, fries, and macaroni and cheese.
