A local Wendy’s is set for a major transformation.

According to a recent permit filed with Develop901, the existing restaurant at 2180 Covington Pike will soon be demolished to make way for a “new, modernized” Wendy’s at the same location.

The permit indicates that the new Wendy’s will have a layout similar to the original. The project also includes plans for a new sidewalk connection and enhanced landscaping.

Meritage Hospitality Group, the franchisee behind this Wendy’s, is one of the fastest-growing restaurant companies in America. Operating across 16 states, Meritage boasts a portfolio that includes Wendy’s, Taco John’s, Morning Belle, and Stan’s Tacos.

Founded in Ohio in 1969, Wendy’s has grown to over 7,000 locations worldwide. The fast-food chain is known for its classic square hamburger patties, spicy chicken sandwiches, and Frosty desserts. The menu also features nuggets, salads, sides, and baked goods.

The existing Wendy’s is still open and a timeline for the project has not yet been disclosed. What Now Memphis has reached out to Meritage Hospitality Group representatives for specific details and will update this page with more information as it becomes available.
