This September is on track to prove especially exciting for Memphis-area crafters. Shea Taylor, the mind behind Threaded & Tipsy, is opening a new retail shop called Blue Suede Stitches, and it’s bound to become an oasis for locals with a passion for needlepoint, reports Memphis Business Journal.
Blue Suede Stitches will be setting up shop in Collierville. Guests will be able to check out all the store has to offer at 190 Washington Street, in a 2,500 square foot space offering both the tools of the stitching trade and a welcoming environment for folks to focus on their works-in-progress.
Taylor, an entrepreneur and an avid stitcher in her own right, offers this sneak peek at the store: “We have sitting areas and tables and this little nook for anyone to come in and stitch. They could come and play mahjong. High school girls could come after school and do their homework there. We’re planning on having classes. We’re planning on having events.”
Taylor tells What Now Memphis that the store will offer only needlepoint products but is also committed to helping customers expand their craft. She states: “We will have beginner classes twice a month and a different more advanced class once a month. Whether that be painting a canvas, decorative stitches, or finishing services.”
Blue Suede Stitches is not Taylor’s first foray into brick-and-mortar retail sales. She launched Emerald Stitchery in Santa Rosa Beach, Florida, earlier this year.
Collierville won’t have to wait too much longer to peruse Blue Suede Stitches’ wares. The shop will open its doors at 11 am on September 1. The brand has been sharing updates about products and the opening on its Instagram page that are certain to inspire enthusiasm among future regulars.
