Joe’s Pizza is world-famous as a pizza joint serving up the classic New York slice. Founded in Greenwich Village in 1975, Joe’s has since expanded to encompass five NYC locations, plus one store apiece in Miami, Ann Arbor, and Cambridge, Massachusetts.
Located at 234 NW 25th Street in Wynwood, Miami’s Joe’s Pizza now appears to be getting a sister location. Plan review paperwork submitted by The Village in South Beach LLC shows a new Joe’s Pizza opening at 1674 Meridian Ave, Unit 102 in Miami Beach.
“Established in 1975 by Joe Pozzuoli, who is originally from Naples, Italy, the birthplace of pizza, Joe’s Pizza is a ‘Greenwich Village institution’ offering the classic New York slice for over 47 years,” says the Joe’s Pizza website. “First, we served our customers from our corner location at Bleecker and Carmine Street and now three doors down at 7 Carmine Street. At 75 years of age, Joe Pozzuoli still owns and operates the restaurant.”
The Wynwood location offers pizza varieties like Cheese, Pepperoni, Supreme, and Caprese. There’s a Veggie Pizza, a Mozzarella Pizza, and a square Sicilian Pizza, too. Overall, though, it’s a streamlined menu that puts quality over quantity.
What Now reached out this week to Joe’s Pizza partner Ian Lafkowitz to inquire about plans for a new Miami Joe’s Pizza. Lafkowitz was not immediately available for comment.
