A new immersive live performance venue is taking shape in Nashville’s Wedgewood-Houston neighborhood, where The Mix Room is planned to open and combine live performances with VR video and audio capture, according to its website. The venue will be located at 601 Merritt Ave., behind sister concept WeHo Provisions Co., which is currently in its soft opening week.
Merritt Entertainment is behind both concepts. Luke Youngblom, the company’s Director of Entertainment & Media, told What Now Nashville that WeHo Provisions was the first phase, and The Mix Room will open later this fall.
It’s being positioned as an indie venue and community event space designed around live entertainment and immersive technology. Its website describes the concept as Nashville’s first immersive venue, bringing together in-person audiences, artists, 360-degree speakers and 3D video capture.
The project is also being developed with the surrounding community in mind. A community survey for The Mix Room asks prospective guests what types of events they would consider calendar-worthy, including art exhibits, fashion shows, literary readings, cooking classes, mixers, trivia nights, farmers markets, vintage popups, yoga, sports, theater festivals, theme nights and costume contests.
WeHo Provisions Co. is a grab-and-go market and sandwich shop currently rolling out its opening in stages, with a grand opening planned for Labor Day Weekend, its social media pages state.
