Veho Hospitality created a stir when it debuted the showstopping Tacos Del Cartel last year, and now the hospitality group is preparing to open yet another unique concept called Sushi By Us in the Central Business District at 711 O’Keefe Ave. The concept is described as ‘Mexakase’, which is a combination of the words Mexican and omakase, with the latter being the Japanese word for ‘chef’s choice’. At two seatings per night, the restaurant will offer tasting menu dinners that include traditional Mexican flavors in elevated sushi presentations. Since opening in mid-2024, Tacos Del Cartel has grown rapidly. Veho Hospitality subsequently opened locations of the flamboyant taqueria in Metairie, Baton Rouge, and West Palm Beach, Fla. The opening of a unique Japanese concept in Sushi By Us suggests that Veho Hospitality has ambitions that go far beyond tacos.
