Having a successful food truck operation during COVID was no easy feat, but Chicky Sandos did it and the owners recently closed on a Baton Rouge building that will be home to a new restaurant location.
The Chicky Sandos food truck launched in late 2020 and rode killer Nashville-style hot chicken sandwiches to runaway success across Baton Rouge. The truck as a limited menu anchored by the Sando; a chicken breast with spicy breading served on a brioche bun with coleslaw, pickles, and special housemade Sando sauce. The Hot Box includes two spicy chicken tenders with sides of coleslaw, pickles, and Sando sauce. Both the Sando and the Hot Box come with seasoned waffle fries. The other main menu item is Chicky Fries; loaded fries topped with chopped chicken tenders, monterey jack, cheddar, Sando sauce and green onions. The truck also offers large-format party packages: the Gameday Sampler (two Sandos, four tenders and fries) and the Jumbo Wumbo Tender Tray (24 tenders with sauce).
The new location on Burbank Drive will be in a 1,200-square-foot building and it will focus on mostly drive-through service. However, walk-up service will be available and there will be limited patio seating for dine-in guests. The company did not respond to our requests for comment.
