A former nightclub in Lafayette that famously hosted Prince for a post-Cajundome appearance is set to get a new lease on life as 4509 Lounge. Owner Ryan Vellion recently told What Now New Orleans that renovations to the multi-level space that was The Plaza, along with staff training, are both nearing completion. Vellion said additional details, including an opening date, will be provided in the coming days.

When it was open from 1995 to 2010, The Plaza had a reputation that extended far beyond Lafayette. Located at 4509 Johnston St., it was ideally located between Houston and New Orleans as a tour stop or stayover for touring musicians.  Featuring multiple levels, a massive dancefloor, and a booming sound system, The Plaza was arguably the biggest club in the region and an attraction in its own right.
