Inspired by Marie Antoinette, a French-Cajun café called Antoinette’s Coffee House is coming to the French Quarter at 834 Chartres St. Owner Andrew Urbine is a serial entrepreneur with a history of brand building. He recently told What Now New Orleans that Antoinette’s will offer high-end coffees. He said the café will feature work from local artist Tracey Esom (Mose) and will lean heavily into the mythology of the famous French queen. It will also provide essential services just one block away from Jackson Square.

“We’re going to tie in the theme of hachée, which is the feminine version of ‘chopped’ in French,” Urbine said. “It’ll be a place for locals to get coffee and work remotely, as well as for tourists to pop in and get a coffee as they go about their day.”

Urbine said the menus are still being developed and an opening day is planned for October 16, the day of Marie Antoinette’s death. He indicated that the coffee house could be the first of several locations.
