Magazine Street is set to receive a unique concept called The Art Spot that blends a creative co-working space with an art gallery and cafe. Located at 2011 Magazine St., The Art Spot has art studio units for rent on its two floors, and a common area with a lounge and café. According to owner Claudio Sapag, there will be a full espresso bar featuring a machine imported from Italy. There will also be a range of bagels, croissants, and other baked goods, including traditional German and Chilean pastries from chef Sebastian Cepeda. The café is set to open in October.
“With the coffee shop, we will try to get people together in a common area to hang out, have a nice dessert, and enjoy the art,” Sapag said.
As for the gallery and studio spaces, a grand opening event is set for mid-September. The common areas are decorated with several artist murals, including a floor mural. Several artist exhibitions have been scheduled. As of mid-August, two art studios were still available for rent.
