New Orleans is a city known for having homes of popular celebrities, and regularly creating a few celebrities of its own. In keeping this star-studded tradition, a new sandwich shop in the Marigny will have a menu of sandwiches created in collaborations with, or inspired by, local icons, when the California-based Ike’s Love and Sandwiches opens this fall at 1940 Dauphine St. According to a press release posted by QSR, the Marigny location will feature some New Orleans-exclusive sandwiches — including a spin on the muffuletta called “Ike-uletta” — and debut “Beign-yays,” the sandwich chain’s spin on our most popular fried breakfast food. According to a permit filing with the City of New Orleans, food and beverages will be “prepared to order, served by wait staff, and usually consumed on-premises.”
Ike’s Love and Sandwiches was founded in 2007 in San Francisco by Ike Shehadeh, originally under the name Ike’s Place. As the chain expands, it develops exclusive sandwiches that are named in tribute to local celebrities. It current has 86 locations, mostly across the southwestern United States, and plans to continue its expansion.
