Davis Center Ribbon Cutting
The Davis Center officially opened its doors to the public on April 26. The construction of the new facility at the Harlem Meer was made possible through a joint effort of $160 million, contributed by the City of New York, donors, and the local community.
On April 25, the Central Park Conservancy officially unveiled the groundbreaking $160 million project in the presence of the project leaders, elected officials, and the Harlem community.
According to a press release, New York City Mayor Eric Adams said, “The opening of the Davis Center in Central Park is a shining example of what makes New York City more livable and the best place to raise a family.”
Offering year-round access, the Davis Center serves as a new model for equitable, community-focused design at one of America’s most iconic landmarks.
Explore Onsite Amenities and Services
With a key focus on accessibility, the Davis Center is designed to connect the community with nature. The facility easily blends into the park’s north end, helping reclaim access to a landscape that had long been blocked.
Open all year round, the space provides a range of wellness classes, family-friendly games, and events on the new Harlem Oval in the spring and fall.
Seasonal activities such as skating at the newly opened ice rink, which provides open skate, figure skating, and hockey programs, are perfect for the colder months, late October through March.
The facility offers many amenities, including a gathering space, a new boardwalk, locker rooms, and public restrooms.
Positioned on the eastern side of Central Park, the Davis Center is located between 106th and 108th Streets. It is a transformative space for Harlem and the rest of the city where New Yorkers can reconnect with nature. With the restoration of a vital part of the historic Central Park, the facility offers an open and inclusive space for everyone.
