Demolition Completed, New Complex on the Horizon
A new four-building residential complex is planned at 280 Bergen Street. According to YIMBY, demolition work was recently completed at the site. Situated at Boerum Hill in Brooklyn, the property will have 367 rental units in studio to two-bedroom layouts.
The up-and-coming 302,000-square-foot venture will include roughly 9,700 square feet of ground-floor retail space. Fischer Rasmussen Whitefield Architects is the design firm for the project. Developed by Goose Property Management, the site was formerly occupied by a two-story commercial building.
Two one-story structures that were present at the site before the start of demolition were also removed for the construction of the project.
Design Features and Amenities
Designed with the expertise of Fischer Rasmussen Whitefield Architects, the project’s exterior is made of tan brick surrounding ground-to-ceiling windows with metallic spandrels. Dark metal paneling will cover the final three stories. Several balconies as well as setbacks with private terraces are part of the project. The parapet will be topped by a roof deck.
The development will consist of three buildings standing 11 stories tall, with one standing 12 stories at the easternmost end of the lot. Residents will have access to amenities like a theater, game room, fitness center, lounge, children’s playroom, yoga studio, and much more. The property will even offer forty enclosed on-site parking spaces.
Financial Backing and Construction Status
Recently, Goose Property Management secured a $166 million loan for the upcoming residential complex. The developers have yet to disclose a complete construction timeline for the property.
The location of the site makes it very accessible to nearby landmarks. Located at the corner of Bergen Street and 3rd Avenue, the site is a short walk from the Atlantic Terminal. The closest subway access will be the 2, 3, 4, 5, B, D, N, Q, and R trains at the Atlantic Avenue-Barclays Center station.
