One of Brooklyn’s favorite Vietnamese Eatery’s is currently gearing up for an ambitious expansion into Eastern Manhattan.
5ive Spice Vietnamese Eatery is a popular Vietnamese restaurant based out of Brooklyn. Established in 2015 Park Slope, 5ive Spice quickly garnered popular acclaim thanks to its flavorful and traditional take on Vietnamese Cuisine. The restaurant serves an eclectic variety of Southeastern Asian dishes like banh xeo tacos, rich and flavorful pho, vermicelli bowls, banh mi sandwiches, and specialty cocktails to accompany every meal.
In February 2021, owner Alex Chow launched the restaurant’s first ever expansion, moving over to Manhattan and opening a brand new location on the Lower East Side. Now, as part of an ambitious expansion strategy, Chow and the 5ive Spice team are preparing to debut a brand new location in Kips Bay. Their third location to date will be opening up at 363 3rd Avenue, between Third and Second Avenues.
The new 5ive Spice will be replacing Bao Brothers, a popular Bao-forward Chinese restaurant that sadly closed last summer. The new location offers enough space to seat about 56 guests inside with room for an additional 10 seat bar. According to Alex, he hopes that the new location will enable him and his team to expand their menu and offer bold and exciting new dishes. Always wanting to innovate, he hopes that the new expansion will continue to push the envelope and find new opportunities for the popular restaurant.
Before the team can share further details about their timeline for opening, they first need to acquire the proper liquor license. Their LES location has become especially notable thanks to its popular cocktails like the Ho Chi Minh and Vietnamese Mojitio, so fans will be looking forward to their cocktail program when they finally visit the new space. Alex and the team are currently proposing to close at Midnight on Sunday through Thursday, and 2:00 AM on Friday and Saturday.
