A 40-Year-Old NYC Sandwich Shop Is Opening a New Manhattan Location

Alidoro is opening a new store on Thursday, July 9, at One Madison Avenue. The launch marks the Italian sandwich company’s 40th birthday and is the next step in its expansion across New York City.

Alidoro to Open New Manhattan Location

Alidoro is expanding its New York City footprint with the opening of the new Manhattan restaurant. The opening comes as the brand marks a milestone of four decades in business.

Known for its traditional Italian sandwiches made with local and imported ingredients, Alidoro has a loyal following for its traditional Italian sandwiches. The 1,000-square-foot restaurant will welcome guests seven days a week.

Alidoro will also be joining NYC Tourism’s Kick It in NYC Match Day dining at its Rockefeller Center restaurant from July 6 to 19. The offer is limited to one il Calcio sandwich per guest. The sandwich comes with a $26 Match Day Meal, which also includes chips, a cookie, and a soda.

Design and Culinary Philosophy at Alidoro

Alidoro’s restaurants blend the feel of a traditional Italian paninoteca and the energy of the New York neighborhoods. Each location combines classic Italian design elements with a contemporary aesthetic.

Guests can expect open sandwich stations, visible slicing areas, and busy service counters. This design conveys the brand’s focus on freshness, authenticity, and craftsmanship.

According to the cpmpany, sandwiches are made fresh with artisan breads from carefully chosen bakery partners. These breads are baked fresh daily. The brand buys high-quality ingredients from both Italy and local vendors.

Meats and cheeses are cut to exact measurements. House-made spreads and layered ingredients are assembled using the company’s traditional preparation methods. The company says its sandwiches follow a traditional Italian approach that emphasizes balanced flavors over oversized portions.

Alidoro’s menu focuses on 21 signature Italian sandwiches, with imported Italian meat and cheese, marinated vegetables, and house-made spreads. Many of the sandwiches are distinguished by specialty items in the house, like black garlic mustard, truffle cream, and specialty olive oils.

Panini are the centerpiece of Alidoro’s menu. Some stores, such as the new One Madison Avenue location, will also offer coffee and pastries. Catering is also available throughout NYC. Options include sandwich platters and antipasti spreads for corporate events, weddings, and office gatherings.

40 Years of NYC Sandwich Culture and Expansion Roadmap

Alidoro opened in SoHo in 1986 and has become a well-known destination for Italian sandwiches in New York City. The company is known for its artisan bread, imported meats and cheeses, and traditional sandwich preparation. The brand has been recognized by The New York Times as one of the “57 Sandwiches That Define NYC.”

With Principal and CEO Jon Streep at the helm, Alidoro has expanded beyond its original SoHo shop. The brand has existing locations in Rockefeller Center, Moynihan Train Hall, The Hugh, and JFK Airport’s Terminal 8.

Following the One Madison Avenue opening, Alidoro plans to expand with additional locations at the Empire State Building, JFK Terminal 6, and Manhattan’s Financial District.
