A Latin steakhouse, Amasa, is coming to Midtown in mid-March. Announced in a press release, the restaurant is part of the soon-to-be-opened Kimpton Era Midtown NY’s opening lineup of dining options, all helmed by APICCI Hospitality Group.

Amasa’s kitchen will be led by Chef Christopher Loeffl, known in Denver for his work at high-end restaurants like Cimera, Cozobi and Mercantile Dining & Provisions. His menu at Amasa features Peruvian and Mexican flavors in marinades like citrus garlic mojo and Aji Amarillo Béarnaise, paired with Heritage Black Angus.

APICII is pairing Amasa with a street-level sister cantina called Bar Amasa, a more casual experience offering Latin cocktails and Mexican tacos. The national hospitality group has opened 31 restaurants across the country, including several in New York, like Bar Cima near Bryant Park and Studio 59 in Bloomingdale’s.

Amasa’s opening will follow the openings of Italian American brasserie Bar Rocco and The Parlor, a bar and lounge, both opening their doors in early March. A rooftop izakaya, Jade Rabbit, will follow in early April.
