Aperitivo by CARTA, a stylish day-to-night neighborhood café and wine bar is now open in the West Village. Located at the bustling intersection 101 West 10th Street (at Sixth Avenue), Aperitivo by CARTA aims to be a neighborhood anchor that feels both familiar and special; a place where guests can begin their day with coffee, pause midday for lunch or a snack, and return later for a glass of wine.

In the morning, the space functions as a café, anchored by a counter serving specialty coffee (roasted by Paloma Bakery), ceremonial teas such as matcha and turmeric, and an array of high quality pastries (also from Paloma Bakery) such as pain au chocolate and pistachio pain suisse alongside healthy, protein-forward breakfast options such as smoked salmon, avocado & arugula on a croissant, and steel-cut oats with seasonal fruit. By midday, Aperitivo by CARTA shifts into a casual lunch destination, with a thoughtfully curated menu of soups, sandwiches, and hearty salads, with a classic ½ sandwich, ½ soup lunch option.

After 5 p.m., the lights dim and the space transforms into a cozy, convivial 24-seat wine bar, offering wines by the glass and bottle, craft beers, vermouths, and spritzes. The evening menu features shareable small plates, a vibrant raw bar (razor clams with yuzu and avocado and scallop aguachile are just a few highlights), and heartier mains, including lobster mac & cheese and braised short rib, all designed to complement the warm atmosphere. For the wine list, Aperitivo selects wines from around the world and prioritizes supporting family-owned producers with the heart and commitment to organics, sustainability and biodynamics.

The Aperitivo by CARTA team consists of Carta Wine Bar’s founding partners: Marcela Jiménez, Managing Partner & Proprietor; George Guzman, Managing Partner, Brand & Strategy; Rebecca Powelson, Wine Director; and addition of a new team member, Executive Chef Silvia Garcia-Nevado, formerly executive chef of Bar Vinazo.

Designed by Anatomy Studio, the modern space is shaped by intention: designed to invite pause, effortlessly lending itself to the rituals of the morning, and moving seamlessly into the midday and evening services. The atmosphere strikes the balance of open and luminous, yet deeply comfortable, accommodating both a morning coffee and an early glass of wine with equal ease, in a setting that feels intimate without being insular.

Clean, modern lines are softened by natural materials and a warm, restrained palette. Marble, terrazzo, and tactile finishes ground the room, allowing sophistication to emerge quietly rather than announce itself. A variety of seating options – from bar seats and the barista counter, to window seats with round marble tables and a neat corner table with two perfectly plush, upholstered chairs – line the perimeter of the naturally lit room, inviting both short visits and longer stays as guests are cheerfully welcomed and doted on by the Aperitivo team.
