Aromati is preparing to bring a taste of Georgian cuisine intermingled with classic American elements to Midtown. It will open at 103 East 34th Street in the space formerly home to Murray Nails & Spa.
Tamar Pitalskaia, Ana Gogoli and Aleksandre Gogoli are behind the venture. Pitalskaia told What Now New York that Aromati’s menu will highlight traditional Georgian cuisine such as cheese bread and dumplings.
“We’re from Georgia and we moved here almost three years ago,” Pitalskaia said. “We came with the idea to bring a Georgian concept here.”
Customers can expect to see a menu that is about 50% Georgian and 50% American. They plan to maintain the atmosphere of American coffee culture, while bringing in Georgian beverage influences in the wine program. The menu will also feature desserts such as signature cheesecakes.
The 800-square-foot space will have a modern feel and will stretch across two stories. The first floor will feature an open kitchen, the bar and some window seating and small tables. The upstairs space will offer a more fine-dining atmosphere, designed for a cozy lunch or dinner.
The team hopes to open in November, though an exact opening will depend on the progress of construction and licensing. Pitalskaia said they will announce more details regarding the grand opening soon.
“We’ll have a grand opening inviting people from the Georgian and American communities,” Pitalskaia said. “Everyone can come.”
