A brand new sushi concept is coming to the Chelsea Market from the mind of one the Market’s most prolific operators.
Maki A Mano is a new sushi restaurant from restaurateur and chef Peter Tondreau that is expected to open up in the Chelsea Market later this year. Tondreau is currently one of the most popular chefs working in the market today, and is known for a bringing to life a plethora of different concepts. Tondreau was behind many recognizable restaurants you likely recognize, including Bar Suzette, Bangkok BAR, Tings Jamaican Jerk Chicken, and most recently, Very Fresh Noodles. Largely based out of Chelsea Market, Peter’s restaurants have become incredibly popular in recent history.
Now, Peter is gearing up to debut a brand new concept in the space that previously housed one of his earlier projects, Le Song. While Le Song has since closed down for good, Peter is reviving the space with his latest restaurant – Maki a Mano. Placing a special emphasis on Hand Rolls, Maki A Mano will highlight some of the finest cuts of fish that can be found in this city. The restaurant will offer house, vegan, and premium maki options alongside other delicacies like ceviche. The space will also feature beer, sake, wine, and signature cocktails designed to accompany the flavor profiles of the assorted Maki.
The space is about standard for the market, and will feature one large, round Omakase bar with 38 seats, as well as 14 tables with an additional 32 seats. The space will also feature a standing bar at the front of the restaurant with space for 14 seats. Currently in the process of applying for the liquor license, Peter and the team are proposing operating hours of 11:00 AM – 12:00 AM every day, seven days a week. While the team is still ironing out the final details of the restaurant, you can follow Peter on Instagram for updates on all of his latest projects.
