Brooklyn’s iconic restaurant, Fette Sau, is permanently closing after 19 years. The restaurant is inviting guests to stop by before its final service on December 21. The restaurant’s Philadelphia location will remain operational.
Fette Sau Announces Final Service
Fette Sau, situated at 354 Metropolitan Avenue, started its journey in 2007, and over a period of two decades, the restaurant became a go-to spot for locals. The restaurant is known for its locally sourced and high-quality meat. Some of fan favorites include Berkshire pulled pork, beef brisket, potato rolls, and spare ribs.
The team behind the eatery shared a heartfelt message on Instagram and announced its closure. “To all our Fette Sau fans, patrons, and family, we are writing you with the bittersweet news that we will be closing down shop on December 21,” the team stated.
The team went down a nostalgic lane and added, “Since opening in 2007, we have had an incredibly vibrant 19 years of serving this community. We could never have imagined the success and support we found here on Metropolitan Ave.”
After the announcement, several loyal fans and customers filled the Instagram post with heartbreaking messages and cherished memories. One of the customers shared, “This is terrible news. I live in Harlem and visit Fette Sau; the barbecue is delicious. I’m going to try to get there before you close. Thanks for the excellent food.”

Philadelphia Location Will Stay Open
While the Brooklyn restaurant is closing just before Christmas, Fette Sau’s Philadelphia location will remain open.
The restaurant wrote in the post, “The location in Philadelphia will remain open @fettesauphilly.”
Until its final days, the restaurant remains open from Thursday to Saturday from 12 pm to 10 pm, and on Sunday, the restaurant will serve from 12 pm to 9 pm.
The team is welcoming guests to stop by before the Williamsburg location closes. As Fette Sau prepares to close, it leaves behind nearly two decades of memories for the neighborhood.
