TacoDero on Brooks Avenue has announced it will close on October 28. The restaurant announced its closure on social media, pointing to economic strain that made continued operations unsustainable.
TacoDero Calls It Quits Amid Ongoing Challenges
TacoDero, a casual Mexican-inspired spot at 1174 Brooks Avenue in Rochester, is known for its shredded beef tacos and other street-style dishes. Favorites include shredded beef tacos served with consommé, plus a rotating lineup of classic Mexican fare.
In a social media post, the restaurant shared the news of the upcoming closure. The team reflected on their two-year journey and thanked Rochester locals for their support.
“From starting in the backyard of Chef Cordero’s home to hosting weekly pop-ups at Flour City Station, launching our own food truck, transitioning to a ghost kitchen, and now operating a restaurant & lounge, we have gained invaluable insights into building a brand and, more importantly, fostering a community,” the post read.
The restaurant cited rising costs and nearby construction that made it hard for drivers to spot the location. TacoDero noted that it became unsustainable for the restaurant to continue operations, despite strong community support.
“Despite the tremendous support we’ve received from all of you, we regrettably have made the decision to close our doors at the end of this month. With the current economic climate, rising food costs, repair expenses, and ongoing construction obstructing our visibility to traffic, we find it unsustainable to continue operating,” the post said.
They invited customers to their final Taco Tuesday event on October 28 from 4 p.m. to 11 p.m..
TacoDero to Continue its Food Truck Operations
As the restaurant gears up to shut down, TacoDero plans to keep its food truck running. The truck will serve a small menu through the holiday season, with updates on its weekly schedule.
“As many of you have observed over the years, we are not ones to give up. We remain confident that our perseverance will ultimately lead us to greater opportunities. Our goal is to keep the food truck running with a limited menu until the holiday season,” the post said.
The team encouraged fans to follow along for updates on upcoming stops.
“We cannot thank you all for giving your support and trust in us. Taco Tuesday will NEVER be the same,” the post said.
