A new concept, Birds, is heading to 64 Downing Street. The spot will be a small family restaurant focusing on Greek food. It will also feature live, conversational piano music, according to recently filed paperwork.
The location formerly belonged to cocktail bar Ollie, which closed in January.
The concept comes from the brother-sister duo behind Lighthouse BK, a Mediterranean restaurant in Brooklyn. Naama and Assaf Tamir are currently working on another Mediterranean-Japanese concept called Messy, as well.
Naama Tamir describes the new concept as a listening room and piano bar. As of now, there is no set menu, though it will have “Mediterranean flair,” Naama said. The current menu submitted with the paperwork features items like steak tartare, mushroom ravioli and steamed mussels. There will also be a cocktail and wine program.
“It will be a very music-focused place with natural wine and spirit-focused cocktails and small bites,” Naama said.
The two-story building is just above 2,500 square feet. It will have 10 tables that will seat 40 and one bar that will seat 11.
For now, Naama said they are hoping to open Birds in early 2025.
