Brick Lane Curry House closed its location at 79 Second Ave. in East Village in December after 23 years of operation. However, in an Instagram post announcing the closure, the restaurant shared plans for a potential reopening in the area.
“To our loyal customers who became family: Thank you for making Brick Lane your home away from home,” the Instagram post states. “Every curry we’ve served, every naan we’ve baked and every smile we’ve shared has meant the world to us. But this isn’t goodbye forever…Stay tuned for Brick Lane 2.0. A new chapter is coming, and we can’t wait.”
The brand, which describes itself as a British-style curry house, has one location that remains open in Jersey City.
Co-owner Sati Sharma confirmed with What Now New York that the Brick Lane brand does plan to return to Manhattan in the future, though they are focusing on bringing their location in Montclair back to life first. They have ongoing renovations at that location occurring this spring. Then, they plan to focus on returning to Manhattan.
Sharma declined to share further details about their return to Manhattan at this time, and he did not reveal whether or not the business will return to the same location in East Village or if they are planning to relocate elsewhere.
