Longstanding Chelsea restaurant Cafe Riazor, located at 245 West 16th St., is changing ownership within the family, according to recently filed paperwork. Siblings David and Martha Romero are taking over the ownership of the business from their parents, according to community board filings.

David and Martha have both worked as managers at Cafe Riazor since 1989, and they hope to retain the legacy, atmosphere and method of operation of the space.

The restaurant and tapas bar serves a Spanish-inspired menu, with entrees such as filet mignon broiled with steamed lobster tail, broiled ribeye steak, calamari served with tomato mayonnaise sauce, whole red snapper boiled with lemon wedges in garlic and wine, and paella. Tapas options include sautéed shrimp, stuffed mushrooms and stuffed piquillo peppers.

The spot plans to operate from 12 p.m. to 11 a.m. with 12 tables that seat 43 and one stand-up bar that seats 12.
