Lower East Side neighborhood bar Cafe Skye is planning an expansion to the East Village, according to recent community board filings. It is aiming to go into an approximately 500-square-foot space at 520 East 14th Street.
Owner Cameron Bean told What Now New York that the forthcoming location will be similar to the Lower East Side space.
“We focus on operating intimate, curated spaces that are small in size and format, so we’re just growing to meet our customer needs and expand our business,” Bean said.
Cafe Skye features a menu of shareable plates like tuna poke nachos and steak tartare; entrees like burgers and steak frites; and a beverage program with signature cocktails, natural wines, beer, coffee and housemade sodas. The spot also specializes in hosting curated dinner parties with custom prix fixe menus and drinks.
Bean said that if everything goes well at the upcoming community board meeting, they hope to be on track to open in the East Village in late 2025 or early 2026.
“We’re really focused on one location at a time,” Bean said. “We’re just trying to provide the best experiences to our guests, and right now we’re limited by having just one location, so we’re looking to grow to meet our customer demand. We’re focused on serving our Lower East Side and East Village communities, and that’s our focus right now.”
