The first Upper West Side Chick-fil-A restaurant will begin serving the community on Thursday, March 6. Chick-fil-A, Inc. has selected Malcolm Brewer as the independent franchised local Owner-Operator of Chick-fil-A 98th & Columbus.
Located at 795 Columbus Ave., Chick-fil-A 98th & Columbus will be open for dine-in, carry-out and delivery from 6:30 a.m. to 10 p.m., Monday through Saturday. This restaurant joins 16 other Chick-fil-A restaurants serving Manhattan.
Chick-fil-A’s franchise model is essential to how the restaurant serves others. Most Chick-fil-A restaurants are owned and operated by a single individual, which means Chick-fil-A’s local Owner-Operators are small business owners, not passive investors, who work in their restaurants side by side with their Team Members each day.
On the Upper West Side, Malcolm will be responsible for all day-to-day activities of the business, including employing approximately 90 full- and part-time Team Members, serving Guests, cultivating relationships with local organizations and businesses, and tailoring philanthropic efforts to meet the Upper West Side community’s needs.
Born and raised in Brooklyn, Malcolm is looking forward to serving his fellow New Yorkers and making a positive impact on the Upper West Side. At an early age, Malcolm devoted himself to academics, graduating early from high school and attending Brooklyn College where a study abroad program sparked his interest in entrepreneurship. Upon graduation, Malcolm pursued a career in business, entering the mobility and transportation sector, where he discovered his passion for leading teams, mentoring young professionals, and creating opportunities through meaningful employment. Over the course of 12 years, he advanced to an Area Sales Manager, honing his skills in operations, business growth, and team development. His entrepreneurial spirit led him to explore business ownership, ultimately drawing him to Chick-fil-A’s culture of care. With a new goal in his sights, Malcolm embarked on a four-year journey through the interview and selection process. Today, he is proud to step into the role as local Owner-Operator of Chick-fil-A 98th & Columbus. Away from work, Malcolm is an avid marathon runner, constantly pushing his limits and embracing new challenges.
“As a lifelong New Yorker, I feel incredibly humbled and excited to be opening the first Chick-fil-A restaurant on the Upper West Side,” said Malcolm in a statement. “Chick-fil-A allows me to make an impact on my community in areas I’m passionate about and I’m eager to do exactly that. As the local Owner-Operator, it is my goal to cultivate an exceptional work environment for my Team Members, while serving delicious food and partnering with local organizations focused on childhood education and professional development.”
The Chick-fil-A business is built to add positive impact beyond profit, including giving back to local communities. Chick-fil-A local Owner-Operators are empowered to support the neighborhoods they serve with a key focus on hunger, education, and specific community needs.
In celebration of the opening, Chick-fil-A, Inc. has donated $25,000 to Feeding America in honor of the new restaurant. These funds will be distributed to partners in the greater New York City area to aid in the fight against hunger.
Malcolm’s restaurant will plan to participate in the Chick-fil-A Shared Table program, an initiative that redirects surplus food from the restaurant to local soup kitchens, shelters, food banks and nonprofits in need. To date, more than 35 million meals have been created from Chick-fil-A Shared Table donations from over 2,300 Chick-fil-A restaurants throughout the U.S. and Canada.
The original Chick-fil-A Chicken Sandwich is made with a real, whole, boneless breast of chicken with no added fillers, the breaded chicken is pressure cooked in fully-refined peanut oil. To complement the chicken, fresh produce is delivered to Chick-fil-A restaurants up to six times a week for the best quality and flavor.
Guests of Chick-fil-A 98th & Columbus Ave can place an order for pickup, dine-in and delivery on the Chick-fil-A App or online. When joining the Chick-fil-A One tiered membership program, Chick-fil-A One members receive points on every qualifying purchase which can be used to redeem available rewards.
