City Winery is expanding its presence at the far end of Pier 57 with two new indoor locations on the fifth floor and at the north footloose.
City Winery was founded by Michael Dorf who has been operating its flagship location at the foot of Pier 57 since 2008. It was recently granted the opportunity to expand its operations at the pier and is currently obtaining the licenses to do so. The restaurant chain is slated to offer a “unique combined culinary and cultural experience to urban wine enthusiasts” and is known for its “intimate shows, world-class wine, great food, and unforgettable private events.”
The “locally sourced, globally influenced” concept now has over a dozen outposts in major metropolitan areas across the country including Atlanta, Boston, Chicago, Nashville, Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, and St. Louis.
It also has two other New York City-based outposts at Grand Central and Rockefeller Center, as well as a spinoff concept City Vineyard by City Winery at 233 West Street in the West Village. There is also an outpost upstate in Hudson Valley.
The expansion is slated to open 30 tables with 106 seats, as well as two stand-up bars with 12 seats, with anticipated hours of operation of 11 a.m. until 4 a.m. daily.
It offers first courses such as arugula salad, tuna crudo, and burrata, second courses such as chicken corsica, branzino, and American wagyu hanger steak, and desserts such as Junior’s Cheesecake and Jack’s skillet cookie. It also offers a $60 price fixed dinner.
It also offers a wine array of wines on tap for $20, bottled wine for $13-$15 by the class and $52-$60 by the bottle, draft beer for $12, beer and cider by the bottle for $8-$12, and cocktails for $11-$16, as well as coffees, teas, and sodas for $3-$7.
Dorf also co-founded the Knitting Factory, one of New York’s longest running music venues, at 101 Avenue A in the East Village in 1987.
