In mid-January, What Now New York reported that fine dining concept Confidant was moving into the former Colonie space on the boarder between Brooklyn Heights and Cobble Hill. The restaurant opened its doors at the beginning of February with a dinner service, serving its famous prawn pot pie and other seasonal menu items. The Confidant team is now working on another concept right next door, according to a liquor license permit application.
First reported by Eater, Lou & Bev’s is named after the grandmothers of Confidant’s dessert and pastry maestro, Mariah Neston, formerly of La Rock, Frenchette and Major Food Group. The upcoming concept, headed by Neston, will operate as a bakery during the day. By night, the space becomes a wine bar, which will also serve pizza, harkening back to Confidant co-owners Daniel Grossman and Brendan Kelley’s experience at Roberta’s, where the two chefs first met.
The 1,800 square-foot space that Lou & Bev’s will move into on 129 Atlantic Ave. formerly housed Pip’s, which closed in September 2025.
Lou & Bev’s is headed for a late spring 2026 opening.
