The Dante team is bringing its European-inspired dishes to a new concept in the West Village. Owners Linden Pride and Nathalie Hudson have filed liquor license paperwork with the community board for Dante Aperitivo at 51 Bank Street.
It is expected to open this summer in a 1,582-square-foot space at the address, stretching across a ground floor and basement space. Plans call for 12 tables that will seat 22 and one bar that will seat 16.
Customers can expect menu items including pizza such as pizza bianca, margherita and funghi; pasta dishes such as bucatini al pomodoro and gemelli corti; entrees like steak-frites and crispy ora king salmon; and dessert options such as tiramisu and panna cotta. There will also be dessert cocktails, according to the proposed menu for the spot.
The proposed hours of operation for Dante Aperitivo are 10 a.m. to 12 a.m. daily, with hours extended to 1 a.m. Thursday through Saturday.
Dante has been in the community for over a century. It opened in 1915 and was later made a New York City landmark. The restaurant has changed hands multiple times over the years, and has served as a popular hangout spot for celebrities.
“Now in its latest incarnation as Dante, its new owners, all lifelong industry professionals and old friends, have breathed new life into this iconic space,” the Dante website states. “Its historical integrity and sense of community remain firmly intact but now complemented by an elevated selection of modern Italian cuisine, world-class cocktails and an award-winning bar program. Welcome to Dante, where everything old is new again.”
Dante has two locations in the city: one along Macdougal Street in Greenwich Village and another location in the West Village. Dante also expanded to Beverly Hills a couple years ago.
