Fine dining Italian restaurant Dell’anima is planning to open at 18 Cornelia Street, according to a liquor license application filed with CB2 earlier this month.

The space was formerly home to Figure Eight, which closed in December. Dell’anima is taking over 2,600 square feet — 1,300 square feet of ground floor space and 1,300 of basement space.

Jacob Cohen, Andrew Whitney and Danir Rincon are behind the brand, which is not new to the city. Dell’anima has been operating at the Gotham West Market, but that location closed in December with promises of a “Dell’anima 3.0” coming soon.

The neighborhood restaurant serves brunch, lunch and dinner, featuring dishes such as Tajarin alla Carbonara and Pollo al Diavolo and a beverage program that serves beer, wine and cocktails.

“Opened in October 2007 in the heart of New York City’s West Village, dell’anima means ‘of the soul’ in Italian and features hearty, eloquent dishes of thoughtful simplicity. Our menu offerings change daily and we use local, seasonal and sustainably harvested produce where possible,” the Dell’anima website states. “Executive Chef Andrew Whitney’s menu features a selection of pastas made fresh in house every day, traditional dishes rarely found outside of Italy, and his own Italian-inspired creations.”

This location is expected to have 14 tables with 34 seats and one bar that will seat 12. The proposed hours of operation are 9 a.m. to 2 a.m., according to the filed paperwork.

What Now New York got in touch with Whitney, who confirmed the plans, but he declined to provide further details at this time.
