Fast-casual German street food brand Döner Haus has a new location in the works, with plans to expand to Bayside, Queens, this spring, according to a release. The 1,300-square-foot restaurant at 4004 Bell Blvd. will be the first franchise location for the brand and is expected to open by May.

The spot will offer an open kitchen design as well as room for several hi-top tables, though Döner Haus emphasizes takeout and delivery orders.

Carlos Bolaños is the franchise owner for the Queens location. He owns an architecture and construction business that operates in New York City and he got involved with the Döner Haus brand when he did some construction projects for them. He was drawn to the brand because of its commitment to simplicity and quality.

“It’s a simple concept. It’s very straightforward. That’s something that attracted me [to the brand],” Bolaños told What Now New York. “There aren’t too many moving parts.”

Bolaños said they chose the location in Bayside because of its proximity to nightlife, bars and restaurants.

“It’s a quick bite. The food is very good, and it’s economical,” Bolaños said. “For the neighborhood, I think it’ll be a good concept for them to try out.”

Bolaños plans to open at least one more Döner Haus location in the future, likely by the end of the year.

Founded in 2023 by Nikolaus von Solodkoff, the brand currently has locations in East Village and Astoria. It also has a location in the works for Hell’s Kitchen.

“Our concept really lets us optimize spaces with smaller footprints and minimal or no seating, allowing us to offer delicious Döner Kebabs at affordable prices in premium locations. We’re excited to open our doors in new neighborhoods and introduce ourselves to a wider audience of New Yorkers,” von Solodkoff said in the release.

Döner Haus serves Döner kebabs, sandwiches, wraps and boxes made with organic halal beef and chicken. It is expected to franchise to more locations starting this year.
