Eataly has a new location on the way, with plans to open at 1122 Lexington Ave., according to signage displayed on the New Openings NYC Instagram page. It appears that the location is currently under construction.
This will be the sixth location for the Italian brand, which already has spots in Flatiron, Downtown, SoHo and Rockefeller Center. It opened a location at Hudson Yards earlier this year.
Eataly finds its roots in Torino, Italy, where Oscar Farinetti launched the business in 2007 with the mission of bringing an authentic Italian market experience to customers.
“Oscar Farinetti opened the first Eataly in Torino, Italy, with the idea that it would be much more than a store. He wanted to create a school, a market, a table to gather around: a place to learn about food and, through food, about life,” the website states.
The brand has spread across the globe, with locations in cities like Milano and Dubai. Within the U.S., Eataly has 13 locations, including spots in Los Angeles, Silicon Valley, New Jersey, Las Vegas, Dallas, Boston and Chicago.
Inspired by Italian coffee bars, Eataly’s cafes offer espresso drinks, fresh pastries, gelato and Italian offerings such as Roman-style pizza. They also offer a market section with a curated selection of retail products.
As of now, an exact opening for the Upper East Side location has not been announced.
