A new concept appears to be poised to take over the space at 81 Greenwich Avenue in West Village that belongs to L’Antica Pizzeria Da Michele. Recent community board filings indicate that Adam Saper and Alex Saper, who are partners in Eataly USA and West Village spot L’Industrie Pizza, are planning to bring an upscale Argentinean restaurant to the space.
The spot will offer lunch and dinner in an approachable bistro atmosphere, according to filed paperwork. While the name of the spot has not been announced yet, the team plans to update the signage at the location.
The proposed menu features small plates such as wood-fired artichokes and empanadas; locally sourced charcuterie and cheese; entrees such as tenderloin skirt steak, short ribs and Argentine milanesa; and sides such as roasted sweet potatoes and creamed potatoes.
The approximately 6,000-square-foot restaurant has plans for 44 tables that will seat a total of 134, as well as one bar that will seat 12. The team is also seeking to add a sidewalk cafe, which would add another 14 tables and 28 seats.
The proposed hours of operation are 11 a.m. to 1 a.m. daily, with hours extended to 2 a.m. on Friday and Saturday.
As of now, an opening timeline remains unclear. Efforts to reach the ownership team prior to publication were unsuccessful.
